Magnaflow Vintage 2.5 Challenge
It's only a few days to the first race of the season. We hope that you plan to join us next weekend (March 9-10) at Willow Springs. We understand that a number of cars will be with us for the first time as well as many of last year's "regulars". It should be a great start for the 2002 season.
VSRG will have an information table setup to answer your questions and provide any assistance that we can.
We also plan to unveil the first item in a new line of "2.5" and VSRG merchandise so bring some extra cash! We do not want to disclose what we have quite yet but if you plan to attend the race you might want to bring an extra $15.00 (exact cash or check appreciated). This item, along with other will become available on the web site in the next few weeks.
VSRG will host lunch on Saturday and Sunday for members, their crew and family as well as a "happy hour" after our last race each day.
As with all HSR-West events, spectators are welcome. As far as we know the spectator entry fee is still $10 that covers both days.
One of the more common comments we hear is "I don't have enough experience to race in the 2.5". It seems to be a common misconception that anyone that races with us must be a seasoned driver, but that is really not the case. In 2001 we welcomed a number of "rookie" drivers and continue to do so as we believe that there is no better place to get your small bore sedan racing experience than with VSRG. There is no other racing option on the West Coast that will give you the experience of racing in a group that is made up entirely of cars similar in prepration to yours.
If you are planning on racing for the first time, please feel free to contact us and we will guide you through your first few events. We think you will be surprised at how much fun you will have racing with us and we know you will be pleased at just how easy it is to get started.
The Pacific Northwest Historics will be our biggest event of the season as the Magnaflow 2.5 Challenge has been selected as the feature race of this great event. Entry forms and related information is now on our Schedule page.
VSRG has set a goal of twenty thousand dollars to be donated to Children’s Hospital during a ceremony at the event. We understand our members have charities, which they generously donate to each year. VSRG ask that you consider helping us meet our goal by pledging some of your annual charity donations to Children’s Hospital through VSRG.
VSRG will send any member who donates two hundred fifty dollars ($250) or more a copy of the book “TRANS-AM The Pony Car Wars 1966-1972” authored by Dave Friedman and signed by John Morton and Horst Kwech. You can mail your donations to :
Jim McAdory, VSRG
1330 Barbara Drive
Vista, CA 92084
Please make your check payable to Children’s Hospital (not VSRG) and
include your Tax ID number on the check for proof of contribution. This event is worth the effort and is second only to the Monterey Historics. Please support the series, our sponsors, and Children’s Hospital in 2002.
Reminder: If you are a VSRG member and are reading this from the web site and did not receive this via e-mail, then we have a problem with your e-mail address. Please drop us a line at jim@bsedan.com with your revised e-mail address.
To help notify members we have also added a new page that lists missing or bad e-mail addresses of members. The page can be accessed from the top of the "Notices" page.
