Magnaflow Vintage 2.5 Challenge

We are adding downloadable entry information and forms to the Schedule page.  The first forms should be available by the end of the week.  The forms are in Adobe Acrobat (3.0 or higher) format and can be accessed by clicking on the icon that appears next to the race.  Entry information and forms will be added for each race as soon as the forms are published by the host organization.  Normally, but not always, this is about 30-45 days prior to the event.  The first forms to be loaded will be for the March Willow Springs race as well as the Pacific Northwest Historics.

With the Holidays over  it's time to focus on the 2002 race season that will start in just a few weeks.

The entry forms for our season opener at Willow Springs are already in the the mail. If last year is any indication, this race should bring out a large field of competitors.  We anticipate a number of new cars and welcome anyone that is racing with us for the first time as well as our "veterans".   VSRG will have an information table to answer your questions and provide any assistance that we can.

VSRG will host lunch on Saturday and Sunday for members, their crew and family as well as a "happy hour" after our last race each day.

As with all HSR-West events, spectators are welcome.  As far as we know the spectator entry fee is still $10 that covers both days.

The Magnaflow 2.5 Challenge will be a featured race of the Pacific Northwest Historics! This incredible turn of events has placed us as the "prime-time" race for this great event. We will place the entry forms and related information on the web site in the next few days.

Most of our members from California have probably not attended this event in the past and might feel it’s a bit far to travel for a race.  While other members who live in the Northwest have not been able to participate because their cars don’t fit within the typical SOVERN classes.  The event draws large crowds and will be featuring the Magnaflow Vintage 2.5 Challenge this year along with Corvette.

Our members Jim Froula and John Hall have worked hard to make sure our cars are an important part of the event.  For our Northwest members it will be a great opportunity to lead the way on their local track and for our California members a great chance to run on a track where the original series raced.  Several of our members tow from the Northwest to support our events in California and its now our turn to support them on their home track.  Besides, Froula is ready to show us all the fast way around the track!

VSRG has set a goal of twenty thousand dollars to be donated to Children’s Hospital during a ceremony at the event.  We understand our members have charities, which they generously donate to each year.  VSRG ask that you consider helping us meet our goal by pledging some of your annual charity donations to Children’s Hospital through VSRG.

VSRG will send any member who donates two hundred fifty dollars ($250) or more a copy of the book “TRANS-AM The Pony Car Wars 1966-1972” authored by Dave Friedman and signed by John Morton and Horst Kwech.  You can mail your donations to :

Jim McAdory, VSRG
1330 Barbara Drive
Vista, CA  92084

Please make your check payable to Children’s Hospital (not VSRG) and
include your Tax ID number on the check for proof of contribution.

This event is worth the effort and is second only to the Monterey Historics. Please support the series, our sponsors, and Children’s Hospital in 2002.

There has been a schedule change. The Sears Point date has been replaced with a race at Laguna Seca on the same weekend.  HMSA has extended another invitation for us to join them at this storied track and indicated that they would like for this to be a regular part of our schedule in future years.

As it turns out the Trans-AM weekend we had announced at Sears Point was not the firm event that we had understood it to be.  At the same time this event moved into the "tentative" category, HMSA extended an invitation for the same weekend. Last year's Lagua Seca was a tremendous success and we plan to make this another great weekend for the members.

We do not anticipate any more changes to the 2002 schedule.

The reconginition of vintage sedan racing started by VSRG is spreading.  We have noted with interest that there are two significant non-VSRG 2.5/U2 feature races are being advertised in current vintage racing publications.  One will be in Colorado and the other in Michigan, we wish the organizers the best and hope their events are successful.

Vintage sedan racing has come a long way in a very short period of time. It has not been that long ago that sedans were used as "filler" to balance groups. Now we find ourself as a featured race in one of the most respected vintage events in the country as well as other feature 2.5 races across the country.

We have had a rash of bad member e-mail addresses in the past few months.  Much of this has been caused by the problems with the Cox Cable loss of Excite at Home.  If you are reading this from the web site and did not receive this via e-mail, then we have a problem with your e-mail address.  Please drop us a line at jim@bsedan.com with your revised e-mail address.

To help notify members we have also added a new page that lists missing or bad e-mail addresses of members.  The page can be accessed from the top of the "Notices" page.
